Music && me

Updated: May 4, 2022

Music vibrates my soul in ways that I could never imagine. My love for music was introduced and nurtured by my father. As a kid some of our best days consisted of sitting and listening to music for hours. The "old soul" was nurtured on those days. My dad would play the "good music" from back in his day to put me on. He's a truck driver so instead of staying home to play I'd get on the road with him to take roadtrips from state to state while he worked. Every ride was its own concert. Life is a love story for me because of the music that was planted in my soul as a child.

My father was a musician and a singer. He taught me how to play the drums and the piano as a kid. Growing up he would serenade my mother with his music, and it would light her up. Music has always been connected to love for me. So on my best days and the absolute most challenging days I retreat to music.

“Music is life.... that's why our hearts have beats - Daddy”

Feel good music

Yall remember back in the day when we use to burn CD's? My dad use to put me on to and make me copies of all his classic "love songs" CD's. I use to drive to school with Gerald Levert blasting. lol. Naw, but seriously music has always felt good to me. There isn't a day that passes that I don't listen to music. In the deepest pits of the darkness music is often what helped me release and walk through the darkness. I am grateful to have friends who also have a similar love for music. In 2017, I was diagnosed with PTSD and Clinical depression and navigating those thoughts were unimaginably challenging. There were so many days that I felt trapped in my mind and music was the only thing that helped me breathe a little easier. The bass is my absolute favorite instrument. Its something about how the frequencies vibrates through my soul and soothes it at the same time. It often feels like the rollercoaster that takes you back to love.

Music is the love language we all understand. Whether I am vibing alone, at a family gathering or out with friends the music always feels good to my soul. I can't help but move when I hear good music. Music reminds and encourages me to MOVE. To manually optimize vitality and energy. When I stretch I put on my favorite playlist and I soar. Below is a few songs from one of my playlist....check them out! I hope they make you feel as good as they do for me!
